For the second time in three weeks, the Election Commission convened an all party meeting Thursday and discussed security and phase wise national elections on November 13. All parties in the dissolved parliament attended the meeting.
Minister of State for Home Debendra Raj Kandel represented the government. Opposition parties also asked the government to convene an all party meeting to discuss election issues. Party representatives not only asked for security during the election campaign but also after the vote.
Maoists have vowed to disrupt the snap vote. Senior government officials and security agencies also attended in the meeting. Altogether 14.49 million voters will cast their ballots in 10,858 polling centers.
There were 6,800 polling centers in the 1997 vote. Altogether 69,594 election officials will be mobilized for the vote.
