The Nepal Rashtra Bank Monday brought the kingdom’s first first plastic notes into circulation.
The currency notes of Rs.10 denomination are also the first with the portrait of King Gyanendra who ascended the throne on June 4, 2001.
The Bank has asked the people to keep the easily inflammable notes away from fire and avoid stapling them. The notes printed in Australia are cheaper to print and have a greater longevity.
The central bank will also bring into circulation paper currency notes with the portraits of the King before the holiday season.
