Two armed men shot dead security officer Prem Lama in Lalitpur Sunday night after forcing their way into his rented room in the city, police said. Lama died of wounds while being rushed to hospital.

The gunmen fled in a motorcycle. “It may be the handiwork of Maoists. But we cannot say for certain now,” said a policeman.

Maoists abducted ex-police sergeant Krishna Bahadur Shrestha from his home in Kubinde village in Sindhupalchowk Saturday night, local officials said.

Two  rebels barged into Shrestha’s home while he was attending his sick wife and took him to an unknown destination.
