Police arrested a regional leader along with other six Maoists in Kathmandu Valley, a Home Ministry source said. Chhetra Dhoj Lama and others were arrested in Lagankhel while they were traveling on a Mahendra Jeep on Wednesday, a high level officer of Home Ministry told Nepalnews.com.
The source declined to mention the names of the other six apprehended Maoists.
Maoist rebels are fighting a bloody war in the Himalayan Kingdom since 1996 for the autocratic communist rule. According to a government statistic more than 4,650 people, including 3,290 rebels and 536 police officers have been killed in the fighting.
