The major political parties-Nepali Congress (Koirala), CPN (UML) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party held separate meetings Friday and expressed strong objection to the police chief’s proposal to postpone the election by three months.
Inspector General of Police, Pradeep Shumshere Rana had at an all-party meeting held at the Election Commission Thursday proposed that the elections be postponed.
The political leaders have stated that it is very embarrassing on the part of the government to hint that it is not in the condition to hold the elections on the slated date (November 13).
The meetings Friday of the major political parties have concluded that as the government can no longer be trusted, all political parties must come together to hold the elections on the stipulated date and thereby safeguard democracy and the Constitution.
The top-notch leaders have called for an all-party meeting to discuss the same issue.
The government in the meantime has asked for an explanation from the police chief for making such a controversial statement.
