The incessant rains in the past week have had an adverse impact in the daily life of the people in Baitadi district in far west Nepal and destroyed corn planted in nearly twelve thousand hectares of land, Radio Nepal reported quoting its local correspondent.

The routine work at the government offices has come to a standstill and the schools in the higher altitudes of the district have been closed down because of the continuous rainfall.

The Baitadi-Darchulla highway has been blocked since last Friday.
