The underground Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) announced the names of three-member committee to hold peace talks with the government. The members of the team are Krishna Bahadur Mahara, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Agni Prasad Sapkota, a press statement issued by Maoist leader Prachanda Wednesday.

In the statement Prachanda has also demanded security of members of the team. The government is also expected to announce the names of its team to hold talks with the Maoist insurgents today.

It is the major development since the government and Maoist insurgents announced ceasefire more than three weeks ago. Both the government and Maoists have agreed to hold talks and solve the problem peacefully.

Maoist insurgents launched an armed insurgency against the government for the last six years in which about 1800 people have been killed.
