Wildlife officials are trying to track down a killer tiger or tigers that have killed six persons around the protected Royal National Chitwan National Park since May, an official said.

A tiger killed Bishnu Prasad Bhandari, 38, Wednesday as he was herding his cattle near the village at Madi in the park perihiphary. “The attack could be a stray incident. We are investigating the case.We will kill the tiger if it is old. We will dart it and keep it at the zoo if it is young. We still do not know if there is one or several man-eaters prowling the area,” said Arun Rijal of the King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation.

A man-eater was killed in the area two years ago. The Trust will provide expertise to the Park officials to conduct the operation.
