India “appreciates the reconciliation” with Maoists, an Indian embassy press statement said after Indian Foreign Minister Jaswant Singh left for home after a three-day goodwill visit.

India has halted the construction of a barrage south of Lumbini in India from July 10 and the birthplace of the Buddha is sacred to India and Nepal, the statement said.

India broached the issue of what it calls the use of Nepal by third countries for anti- India activities while Nepal assured New Delhi such activities will not be permitted, the statement said.
