Speaker Taranath Ranabhatt Friday adjourned the session of the House of Representatives until Sunday after opposition members of the Nepal Sadbavana party disrupted proceedings amid slogans protesting government’s Thursday decision to reduce land holdings.
The speaker adjourned the first session of parliament for 30 minutes when members of the party shouted slogans against Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba disrupting house proceedings.
They demanded a ceiling on property and not on land. Government announced all sale and transfer of land nation-wide with immediate effect from Thursday after announcing its decision to reduce land holdings.
Members of the RPP joined Nepal Sadbavana party in anti-government sloganeering during parliament’s second session forcing the speaker to adjourn proceedings until Sunday.
