A special Kathmandu court Monday extended the remand of former minister Chiranjibi Wagle for another three days until Tuesday at the request of the Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) that is preparing corruption charges against him, court officials said.
The CIAA presented Wagle for the second time in the court Tuesday to extend the remand. The CIAA is expected to file corruption charges against Wagle at the court Tuesday. The investigating authority is preparing charges against Wagle and his family for illegally amassing nearly Rs.39 million while he was minister in different capacities in the last 12 years.
CIAA is also preparing charge sheets against former minister Khum Bahadur Khadka and Jayaprakash Prasad Gupta under remand. The special court Monday also extended the remands of six officials of the Revenue Department as the CIAA prepares corruption charges against them.
The court extended the remands of six officials, including Joint Secretary Sriram Pant. The Commission is preparing corruption charges against 22 officials of the Department.
