KATHMANDU: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has suspended its bi-weekly flights between Kathmandu and Karachi indefinitely from this week, aviation sources said. Flight PK 269 took-off from Tribhuvan International Airport for Karachi for the last time with several Nepalis, Pakistanis and other foreign tourists.

PIA operated flights between Kathmandu and Karachi every Monday and Thursday. PIA suspended the flights between land-locked Nepal and Pakistan after India suspended over flying rights to Pakistani aircraft over its airspace following heightened tensions between the two rival South Asian nations after a bloody attack on the Indian Parliament this month for which New Delhi blames Pakistan.

It is not known what route Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf will take while flying into Nepal to attend the seven nation SAARC Summit in Kathmandu from January 4 to 6.
