The Private and Boarding Schools’ Organisation Nepal (PABSON) said Saturday that it had decided to close down the schools for one more week as talks between the government and the Maoist student body were being facilitated to find a way out of the crisis.
The announcement came on the second day after PABSON appealed to private schools to resume classes. Academic institutions in the valley and in other parts of the country were shut down for the last five days after the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (revolutionary) called for indefinite strike putting up different demands.
The Maoist student body has demanded that the government lift all terrorist charges labeled against the party if classes are to be resumed smoothly.
