Gurkha Army Ex-servicemen’s Organization (GAESO) has declared November 27 as Victory Day.
“November 27 has become a day of pride not only for the ex-Gurkhas of the British Army and their families but also for the sovereign people of Nepal,” the GAESO said in an announcement.
A British court on November 27 compensated three Gurkha POWs $15,000 each fifty years after their release from Japanese prisons after World War II.
The court verdict has proved ex-Gurkhas are part of the British army and not mercenaries, the statement said.
