KATHMANDU: The Norwegian government has given a $1.3 million grant to support the World Food Programme (WFP) in Nepal, an announcement said Monday. The fund will support the Rural Community Infrastructure Works (RCIW) programme supported by WFP to implement a programme benefiting 47,000 people in a work for food programme launched in 1996 for remote and food deficit regions.

Japan has awarded a $72,825 grant  to the Himalaya Area Conservation and Development Committee (HACDC) to implement a project in Gorkha Monday, an announcement said. The grant will be used to construct a new secondary school building at Philim village in the district comprising of 11 classrooms, a library and a science laboratory.

The Asian Architecture Foundation (AAF) , a Japanese NGO, will contribute Rs.2,5 million and locals Rs.480,000 to the project.
