Nepal lose to India

Nepal lost to India by 27 runs in the Super League fixture of the U-15 Youth Asia Cup Cricket Tournament in UAE played on Sunday, reports from the Gulf said.

Put to bat first, India posted a competitive total of 185 for 7 in 40 overs. Deepak Shrestha (2 for 34) was the most successful bowler. Raj Shrestha, Paras Khadka and Irfan Siddiqui also took a wicket each.

Nepal started shakily losing opener Sunil Jain for only 11 runs. Then Sharad Vesawakar (78 off 93 balls) and other opener Pawan Das (29 off 63 balls with 1 four) played superbly taking the score to 88 for 2.

Nepal at 145 for 4 was still very much in the game, but crumbled after that will the loss of quick wickets as follows: 5/145, 6/148, 7/152, 8/154, 9/155 and all out for 158.  Nepal were bowled out with 8 balls to spare.

Nepal is in Group B with Bangladesh, India and Kuwait and plays Bangladesh today at the Zayed stadium. Group A comprises of Pakistan, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman.
