KATHMANDU: Nepal-India Trade Treaty has been extended for the period of three months, sources close to Prime Minister said. The treaty was to expire on December 5.

Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee spoke to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba over telephone on Friday and informed that India would extend the treaty for three months considering the difficult situation in Nepal. India was asking to review certain provisions of Nepal-India Treaty before renewing it.

India had also asked to levy surcharge on some Nepalese goods to be exported to India, which has delayed the extension of the treaty.
