King institutes two decorations

KATHMANDU: King Gyanendra, on the recommendation of the government, has instituted two decorations to be conferred to foreigners and Nepalis, an announcement said Saturday. 
Birendra Mala will be awarded to foreign kings and queens.

Birendra Prajatantra Bhaskar will be awarded to royal family members and Nepali citizens making outstanding contribution to the nation and foreigners making special contribution to the welfare of Nepal.

The decorations were instituted coinciding with the 57th birthday of His Late Majesty King Birendra. Tributes were paid to the late King Saturday.
