KATHMANDU: Four Maoists were killed in three different encounters with security personnel Monday, the Defence Ministry said Tuesday.
Two Maoists died in an exchange of gunfire with soldiers at Buda village in Maoist hotbed Rolpa district while 52 hidden arms were recovered, the Defence Ministry said. Soldiers recovered explosives, socket bombs and combat dresses from the rebels, an official announcement said.
One Maoist was killed when security personnel guarding the Radio Nepal building at Surkhet made an abortive attempt to blow it up, another announcement said.
One Maoist who tried to break a security cordon was shot dead in Mugu, the Defence Ministry said. Home Minister Khum Bahadur Khadka said Tuesday government will announce sweeping social reform measures within a week.
