The Commission for the Investigation of the Abuse of Authority (CIAA) Friday filed corruption charges at a special court in Kathmandu against Joint Secretary of the Finance Ministry Janardhan Sharma after several months of investigation.
The CIAA charge sheet said Sharma earned Rs.16.3 million in illegal earnings. The investigation agency has pressed for the constification of the ill-gotten wealth and a maximum prison sentence.
The CIAA has also sought the seizure of property in the safe-keeping of Sharma’s relatives, the agency said.
