A Belgian arms manufacturer has sent the first lot of weapons to Nepal which is expected to arrive soon. The consignment of 500 Minimi machine guns manufactured by Waloon company FN Herstal will arrive shortly, expatica.com, a Belgian website, reported December 12.

An export license for the weapons earlier this year led to the resignation of the Flemish Green Minister Magda Aelvoet coinciding with then Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba’s visit to the European nation.

The Belgian government resisted pressure from the party and human rights activists to stop the arms export.
