Kathmandu: The Royal Nepalese Army in their cordon and search operations have nabbed dozens of terrorists and seized weapons, ammunition and explosives from different parts of the country on Thursday, Ministry of Defence said.
In a press release, the Ministry of Defence said that Royal Nepalese Army further intensified and narrowed its cordon and search operations in different districts. Army personnel have also repulsed attacks by Maoist terrorists at security personnel and sensitive places.
Three terrorists were killed in police firing in Janakpur today when they tried to escape from a police van that was carrying them to the district police office, Home Ministry said. The terrorists suddenly jumped out of the vehicle, which forced policemen to open fire.
Defence Ministry said that three terrorists were arrested in Bardiya, six in Kavre, fourteen in Bhaktapur and four in Kathmandu Thursday. The Army also discovered two grenades and some explosives from Asar of Dang district where they arrested one terrorist.
Security personnel also exchanged fire with terrorists in Rukum and several other districts, in which terrorists suffered big losses. Defence Ministry has asked all people to cooperate with the army in its efforts to maintain security in the country.
Home Ministry today also issued an appeal to people not to be afraid, operate their vehicles and carry out their work as usual. It further said said that His Majesty’s Government has taken full measures to provide security to the people. It asked the people not to be afraid from any kind of threat and rumours spread by terrorists.
It has asked people to inform the army about any kind of terrorist activities. Meanwhile, overnight curfew has been imposed in several districts.
