KATHMANDU: An all-party meet held at the behest of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba was held at his office in Singha Durbar Sunday. All national parties represented in parliament attended the meeting. “The meeting reviewed the situation in the country after emergency was imposed,” Water Resources Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachedhar said.
Deuba sought opposition co-operation to quell the communist rebellion, Gachedhar said. The meeting comes after president of the ruling Nepali Congress Party Girija Prasad Koirala pushed for a controversial national government representing all parties in parliament to deal with Maoists during the emergency even though the party enjoys a comfortable majority in parliament.
