U.S. Ambassador Michael. E. Malinowski Friday handed a cheque of $60,000 to the Director of the Community Recovery Centre (CRC) to provide skill training to former drug abusers, the U.S. Embassy said.
The money will be invested in the purchase of computer equipment and to impart training in basic computer literacy. CRC is supported by the Home Ministry. The NGO is helping rehabilitate inmates of Nakhu prison in the valley by training them.
In the past, the U.S. has helped Nakhu inmates by training them in sewing, painting, basic literacy and other skills. The grant was coordinated through the Drug Advisory Programme of the Colombo Plan Secretariat for Cooperative Economic and Social Development in Asia and the Pacific located in Colombo. nepalnews.com br July 27
