Two Nepalis were killed when a group of about 20 men attacked them in full view of horrified on-lookers at Jalan Silang in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on March 6, news reports said.

The attackers, most of them believed to be Indonesians, who were armed with knives, assaulted a group of Nepali workers with the purpose of robbing money from them on Sunday evening. Two of the victims were apparently cornered by the attackers and hacked mercilessly, according to The Malay Mail. One of the victims died while being rushed to hospital while the other breathed his last during treatment.

The identity of the dead is yet to be confirmed.

Five other Nepalis who were injured in the attack are undergoing treatment at Kuala Lumpur Hospital, the report said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian police have arrested 22 suspects, which includes nine Indonesians, three Nepalis and two Bangladeshis, in connection with the attack. A district court in Kuala Lumpur has sent the suspects to 12-day judicial custody.
