Japanese envoy to Nepal Tsutomu Hiraoka met ousted prime minister and president of the Nepali Congress (Democratic) Sher Bahadur Deuba at the latter’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday, NC(D) said.
The envoy held discussions with the former premier on Nepal’s current political situation and mutual relations between the two countries.
In the meeting, Deuba is reported to have requested the Japanese envoy to support the parties’ ongoing agitation for restoration of democracy and peace in Nepal. The Japanese envoy, however, didn’t commit on the request made by Deuba, according to reports.
Earlier, American, British and Indian envoys to Nepal JF Moriarty, Keith G Bloomfiled and Shiva Shankar Mukherjee had also met Deuba at his residence and discussed current political development in the country. nepalnews.com pd Mar 24 05
