A day after the first test tube-baby was born in the country, twin test-tube babies were born at a leading private hospital in Kathmandu Friday, reports said.

Kumudini Koirala, wife of Dr. Sushil Koirala- a well-known dentist—delivered two test tube babies at an interval of less than a minute, according to sources at the Om hospital and research center.

According to the hospital, the first baby weighs 3 kilograms while the second weighs 2.7 kilograms.

Doctors said the condition of both mother and babies is said to be normal.

On Thursday, 44-year-old Sandhya Tamang made history by giving birth to a baby boy through caesarian operation at the Om hospital.

The in-vitro fertilization (IVF) center—set up some nine months—is the only center that offers IVF services to the child-less couples in the country.
