Students activists of the ruling Nepali Congress Party Tuesday held up vehicular traffic in front of the Tri Chandra Campus for nearly 30 minutes to protest Monday’s violent attacks inside the campus premises by supporters of the Nepal Rashtrabadi Sangh (NRS) injuring about a dozen persons, eyewitnesses said.
The NRS charged rivals for stoning a peaceful procession while it was snaking through the city triggering the clash. The campus students called the NRS supporters ” mandales” and accused them instead for starting the bloody clashes.
The issue figured in parliament Tuesday with one member of the National Assembly asking the government to make a statement on the incident. The rally participants Monday numbering several hundred called for the active leadership of the King and appoint Prince Paras Crown Prince, eyewitnesses said.
Rally participants Monday vandalized offices of students wings of the Nepal Communist Party (UML) and the Nepal Communist Party (ML) near the Tri Chandra Campus.
