Of the six Maoist workers arrested from Lukhnow and Bareli of the Uttar Pradesh State in India, the Indian police Saturday extradited Om Prakash Sapkota, Regional In-charge of the Maoist party.
Sapkota was arrested with 220 thousand Indian rupees in Lukhnow Friday night and was known by the fake name of Rajiv KC in India. The Indian daily “Amar Ujala” published a news in its Sunday issue stating that Sapkota alias Rajiv K.C was extradited to the Nepal Police at the Nepalgunj-Baharaich border. Sapkota who had been staying in Lukhnow for quite sometime was involved in the treatment of the wounded Maoists fleeing to India following encounters with the Royal Nepalese army in various districts of Nepal.
Sapkota had been treating the wounded Maoists with the help of the Akhil Bharatiya Ekata Samaj. He was also found to be raising money from people illegally and had already helped 200 Maoists to receive treatment, the daily said quoting police sources.
The Indian police also seized a diary from the five Maoists who have been arrested. The dairy contained the details of the medical expenses, the list of wounded Maoists and their fake names. nepalnews.com am July 22
