Police in uniform and civil dress Thursday morning broke up a news conference organized by a Nepali organization at which Wangchuk Tshering, the Nepal Representative of the Tibetan spiritual Dalai Lama spoke at the Ambassador Hotel, witnesses said.

The news conference was called to clarify recent controversial remarks against the Dalai Lama made by a section of the exiled community in the capital. Tshering abruptly ended the conference after the intervention, eyewitnesses said.

The conference was organized by Srongsten Bhrikuti Samajik Sanskrit Uthan Kendra.
