Peace rallies in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur

Demanding early resumption of peace process, rallies were taken out in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur Saturday.

The National Buddhist Federation organized a peace rally from Shahid Gate, Kathmandu, in the morning, which passed through major thoroughfares and ended at Shahid Gate. With banners and placards written in slogans in favour of peace, hundreds of Buddhist monks and others participated the rally.

The participants called for end to violence and demanded early peace negotiations to resolve the crisis.

A similar peace rally was organised in the afternoon. The rally organised by Bhaktapur Civil Society was marked by various cultural rally. The rally that began from Bhaktapur Durbar Square ended at a mass gathering.

Hundreds of ordinary people, students and cultural groups joined in the rally. Some participants had even chanted slogans in favour of the Royal Proclamation of Feb 1.
