A parliamentary committee bureau headed by Speaker of the House of Representatives Taranath Ranabhatt Tuesday ordered all members of both houses of parliament to return dasain bonuses they have taken for the last three years after the Auditor General’s Office said in a report the receipts were irregular.
Parliament has 265 members; not all have taken such bonuses. The advances will be settled by deductions from monthly allowances of the members of parliament, an announcement said. The irregularities were mentioned in an annual report of the Auditor General for the year 2058.
Madav Kumar Nepal, the leader of the UML main opposition in the lower house of parliament, today returned Rs.15,000 drawn from such a facility to parliament.
