President of the mainstream Nepali Congress party and former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala said Tuesday that at a time when the party was badly wanting to corner some smugglers and goons in the party, such undesirable characters had left the party on their own, which is a welcome news.

Koirala was addressing a gathering of Nepali Congress workers from the far western region in Dhangadi uesday. As such undesirable characters in the party had deserted the party under their own will it had now been easier to re-orient it for better performance, Koirala said.

Hinting at his archrival Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, Koirala said the break away faction of the party will not be able to cause any harm to the party. He said if the problems prevailing in the country are to be resolved then the dissolved House must be reinstated. Elections will not be able to address the problems, Koirala said.

Koirala who was supposed to inaugurate the tenth district convention of the Nepal Students Union in Kailali could not do so after he felt unwell. General Secretary of the party Sushil Koirala inaugurated the convention after the party president had to take rest. nepalnews.com am July 17
