King accompanies Queen home from hospital

Kathmandu, June 27: King Gyanendra accompanied Queen Komal home from Birendra Military Hospital Wednesday after satisfactory progress from gunshot wounds of the lungs and ribs at a June 1 shoot-out at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace, Nepal Television footage showed.

The King introduced the smiling Queen dressed in a green and red floral sari to Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala as the royal couple alighted down a flight of hospital stairs. She walked haltingly and returned the greetings of other officials, including heads of constitutional bodies, and drove home with her husband.

Hospital staff cheered as the royal couple drove out of the hospital.

Princess Shova Shahi , Kumar Gorakh SJB Rana were also discharged from hospital Wednesday, Nepal Television said. There was no mention of Ketaki Chester also injured in the carnage started by Crown Prince Dipendra.
