Janadesh journalist shot dead

Binod Sajana “Kshitiz”, a district correspondent of Janadesh weekly has been shot dead in a security operation in Kailali Sunday, Nepal Samacharpatra reported Wednesday.

The newspaper, quoting Maoist sources, said plainclothes security forces shot Sajana while he was going to Kegaun of Hasuliya VDC for news collection. Sajana died on the spot after the shoot out, the news report said. “Sajana showed identity card, but the security forces did not spare him.”

A Maoist activist, who was travelling along with Sajana was also killed in the shooting. He has not been identified yet.

Sajana was a permanent resident of Rajapur, Bardia and was dispatching news for Janadesh weekly from Kailali district. The weekly is said to be the Maoists’ mouth peace publication.
