During the ceasefire and peace talks’ period, the Maoists managed to shift a group of 800 militants from mid-western region to the hilly areas of eastern Nepal, Space Time reported Wednesday quoting Maoist sources.
“The militants entered the hilly districts of eastern region through Dharan-Dhankuta-Hile road and scattered all over Terhathum, Panchthar, Taplejung and Sankhuasabha districts,” the daily said.
“During regular checking at Salleri post of Dhankuta, the army had suspected that a reserved bus was carrying Maoist militants. But the army did not arrest them as they were not carrying any weapons and it was the ceasefire period,” the newspaper said.
“During conversation with this daily, most of the Maoist guerrillas said they were involved in the previous Maoist attacks in Jumla, Mangalsen, Dang and Arghakhanchi, among others.”
The transferred Maoists are now facing the problem of language, the daily said. “Though they all speak Nepali language, they don’t understand certain words spoken by each other due to regional differences.”
