Kathmandu, June 10: His Majesty King Gyanendra has extended the deadline of the high-level inquiry commission to submit its report relating to the Royal Palace killings by four days. According to a notice issued by the Principal Press Secretariat of His Majesty the extension was granted on the request of Chief Justice and chief of the high-level investigation panel Keshav Prasad Upadhyaya.
Upadhayaya requested His Majesty the King to extend the time for four more days, as the investigation could not be completed within three days. The two man probe headed by Chief Justice Keshab Prasad Uapdhya will now submit its report Thursday to the King, the announcement said. ”Facts have been almost collected but laboratory test report of physical objects have not been received.
Therefore, request was made by the commission for time extension and has been granted by four days,” a Royal Palace announcement said. The commission which also includes Speaker of the House of Representatives Taranath Ranabhatt began work Friday.
The commission has so far visited the venue of the carnage at the Royal Palace and interviewed the injured, including other members of the royal family present at the scene of the crime as well as doctors. The latest health bulletin issued by the Palace said Queen Komal, the wife of King Gyanendra, is steadily improving.
