Kathmandu: Security forces killed five terrorists in separate encounters across the country Wednesday.
Two terrorists were killed in Hepra area of Rautahat and one in Mewatol area of the same district yesterday. The forces killed one terrorist each in Satakhani area of Surkhet and Rayal area of Bajhang districts.
The Defence Ministry said that the forces had arrested 17 suspects from Rautahat and are investigating on them.
The terrorists killed in the action of the forces include Tuphan (Surkhet), Saugat (Bajhang). The forces have recovered pistol, weapons, explosives, socket bombs, 8-kg bucket bomb, and ambush equipment.
The Ministry said an army officer attained martyrdom yesterday while defending against an armed attack in Majhthana area of Kaski and a soldier lost his life after being serioualy injured in an ambush explosion in Bouniya area of Kailali last week.
The Ministry said the terrorists, demoralised by the joint action of the security forces, have hanged to death an innocent man in Kailash Pimi of Bhajang district. The forces are searching for the terrorists involved in the murder.
