Nepal’s export trade has declined a record low in the recent months because of internal as well as external problems. Minister for Finance Dr Ram Sharan Mahat said that the decline in export trade was because of violent incidents perpetrated by Maoist rebels in the country and terrorist attacks in the United States.
Addressing media persons in Pokhara, Finance Minister Mahat said that the government was introducing some economic reforms programmes to cope with this situation. The Finance Minister, however, did not disclose the figures of export decline.
There has already been sharp decline in tourism business in Nepal because of internal as well as external factors. Hotel owners said that following the terrorist attack in the United States and US attack in Afghanistan, more than 50 percent tourists have canceled their bookings in Kathmandu.
In Pokhara, 70 percent tourists have cancelled their bookings. It has served a big blow to Nepal’s tourism business in the major tourist session.
