It would be sheer foolishness to remain adamant that talks could only be held if the Maoists surrendered their arms, CPN (UML) General Secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal told the Nepal Samacharpatra daily in a special interview Saturday.
No country in the world have talks been ever held after the rebels surrender their arms, Nepal said. He referred to the present political state of the country of being very fluid and complex.
“The present state of uncertainty will go on looming large until the Supreme Court and the Election Commission come up with their decisions,” Nepal said.
He claimed that as the Nepali Congress had already proved inefficient to run the country, the CPN (UML) was the only alternative force, which could take up the responsibility of putting the wrong right. nepalnews.com am July 28
