Kathmandu: In what may be called it a step to relieve the victims of violence by civil society, a non-governmental organisation Nagarik Awaj (Citizen Voice) was here recently established to help people affected by violence and blatant human rights violations in the country.
The newly set-up institution that also aims at generating awareness among the people about human rights has expressed concerned over weak law and order situation of the country, said a press release of the Nagarik Awaj.
People working in social organisations, NGOs, INGO and governmental agencies are in the executive committee of the Awaj. Reeta Thapa, Dr Aruna Upreti, Dr Rohit Kumar Nepali and Bandana Rana hold the posts of chairman, vice-chairman, general secretary and treasurer in the committee respectively. Krishna Hachhuthe, Pramada Shah, Durga Sob, Binod Krishna Shrestha, Deepak Dorge, Sandhay Bhatta, Purna Sobha Chitrakar are members.
Indira Rana, member of National Human Rights Commission expressed opinion and Reeta Thapa shed light the objective of the organisation at the function organised to establish the new instituion.
