Thousands of children below one year in east Nepal have been prevented from immunization of vaccines as authorities in Kathmandu failed to deliver vaccines to districts.
According to reports, thousands of parents, who visit health posts with their children, are not given the vaccines due to scarcity. There is acute shortage of DPT and BCG vaccines, among others in districts, reports said. The DPT and BCG vaccines are for immunization of children under one year.
Reports Sunday has cited ‘management disturbances’ for countrywide scarcity of vaccines. Despite repeated attempts, concerned officials were not available for comments on the issue.
Without the vaccinations, it is estimated that thousands of children annually would succumb to diseases they would otherwise survive, it is learnt.
