Police have detained around one dozen student activists from various campuses in the Kathmandu valley, reports said.
The activists were detained while organizing protest programmes within their campuses. General Secretary of Nepali Congress-affiliated Nepal Students Union, Bashu Koirala, told Nepalnews that the programmes launched jointly by seven student organisations had been successful despite what he said heavy presence of security personnel in most of the campuses.
A home ministry spokesman said he did not have any information regarding fresh arrest of student activists till late Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Free Students Union (FSU) of Padma Kanya Campus in Kathmandu has protested the search of ladies hostel within the campus premises by the security personnel Tuesday night.
The authorities have not commented on the incident.
