KATHMANDU, June 1: Security forces have killed four Maoist rebels in separate incidents in their latest operation, the Defence Ministry said Saturday.

Three rebels were killed instantly after the security forces launched a retaliatory attack against the rebels in Katti area of mid-western Dailekh district Saturday and one more was killed in Kubhinde area of Sindhupalchowk district, according to the Ministry statement issued today.

The retaliatory attack came after the rebels hurled a socket bomb at the security persons pursing them through their remote hideouts. The forces have also seized some arms, and equipment used in making electric traps from the area.

The statement added that the rebel killed in Sindhupalchowk was found involved in terrorising local villagers and looting goods from them.

Earlier, the security forces recovered bodies of a total of 188 rebels in and around Khara area. They were killed last Monday night after security forces launched fierce retaliatory action against them, when the latter attack an army base situated atop a hill in Khara area.
