14 dead after eating poisonous mushroom in Ilam

Kathmandu, June 6: Altogether 14 persons, including eight persons of a family, died and one person was seriously sick after eating poisonous mushrooms at two villages in Ilam last week.

Eight seriously sick members of a Pradhan family were rushed from the border town of Pashupatinagar to a hospital in Darjeeling last week where they died, police said.

Six persons of a Rai family from Shreeantu village also died after consuming wild mushrooms, police said. Local authorities have banned the sale of mushroom, cabbage and cucumber after the accidental deaths.
