Normalcy returns to Tulsipur

Curfew was lifted on Tulsipur for 14 hours from 6 AM Thursday and vehicles started plying in the district as Dang returned to some form of normalcy following week-long violence in which one person was killed in police firing,, Home Ministry and local officials said.

But the curfew will be slapped on the town for 10 hours as a precautionary measure at 8 PM, Chief District Officer Lok Bahadur Khatri said. Violence erupted after two students died were a bus over-ran them last week near the town; an irate mob went on a rampage destroying more than 100 vehicles forcing operators to suspend all bus services causing commuters inconvenience.

Rapti Zone Transport Association Thursday decided to resume bus services with an ultimatum to government to compensate them for damages by November 22. “We have also decided to resume service so as not to inconvenience people further because of the coming festival season,” a statement said.

Meanwhile, students have also demanded compensation for the family of a person killed in a police firing and medical expenses for the injured.
