The only road link between Kathmandu and Tibet will not be restored until another seven days after landslides triggered by continuous monsoon rains disrupted vehicular on the only highway linking the kingdom with Tibet since Friday, a government official said.

Roads Department officials are working overtime to restore the road link. Nepal and China recently agreed to open a second highway through Rasuwa district northwest of the capital to develop an alternate link between Nepal and Tibet.

Incessant rains in the last several days have triggered floods and landslides killing several persons and disrupting vehicular movement on mountain highways.
