For the first time, King Gyanendra Friday received credentials from two ambassadors accredited to the Kingdom of Nepal after ascending the throne on June 4 after the assassination of King Birendra three days earlier.

The new King has now settled to oversee state matters after a carnage at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace killing or injuring 14 members of the royal family or relatives in the carnage started by Crown Prince Dipendra.

Chinese Ambassador Wu Congwong and North Korean Ambassador Jon Song Myong presented their letters of credence to the King at the Narayanhiti Royal Palace.

The King later granted audiences to the envoys, an announcement said.
