The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has nominated marathon ace Baikuntha Mahandhar for the committee’s Sports and Well being trophy award for 2002, an announcement said. Manandhar is being honoured for his contribution and achievements in sports.

Manandhar is winner of three consecutive marathon golds in the SAAF Games; Manandhar’s record timing of 2 hours 15″03 in the Calcutta Games in 1990 still stands.
