With the recovery of 15 more bodies Thursday, the Maoist casualty figures in a gun battle between the army and Maoists in Rukum Tuesday morning has now reached 182, the Defence Ministry said Friday.
Security forces quoting locals in Rukum said rebels carried away 85 more bodies of their dead toneighbouring districts.
Six more insurgents were killed in operations Thursday in Bardia, Rukum and Baglung, the Defence Ministry said. A woman caught in an exchange of gunfire between the army and the rebels in Humla has been airlifted to a hospital in far west Nepal for treatment, another announcement said.
Rebels ambushed and killed two soldiers and injured two others in Kailali Thursday, another announcement said.
